What steps do I take if our renovation includes exterior modifications?
Any changes to the exterior of the residences will need approval from the appropriate districts Architectural Commission ( such as the Beacon Hill Architectural Commission, Back Bay Architectural Commission, etc.). All modifications to the exterior (e.g. the addition of air handlers to a roof or deck) must be reviewed by the Commission. During the application process, you will need to create a mock up of the modifications in order for the Commission to determine whether these changes are visible from a public way.
